We all hear this a lot and say it ourselves. “It’s not perfect” or “Please don’t look at my mistakes.”

I always remind myself and my students that it is OK to not have perfect seams and points. The process of making a beautiful quilt whether it is for ourselves or someone else is the true joy. When you stress over the perfect point again and again you will eventually walk away from the quilt. Stop and allow yourself to enjoy your sewing and quilting time.

If you look at one of my mug rugs, it is slightly off. I am still happy with it and had a lot of fun piecing it. If anyone feels the need to point out your mistakes, kindly tell them that you are happy with your quilt. Don’t allow anyone to put a stop to the fun you have.

Embrace, love and cherish your flaws and the flaws you see in your quilts.
